The Army Cadet Force or ACF is one of the UKS Oldest and Largest Youth Organisations.
Currently the ACF has 44,000 Cadets,Boys and Girls from 12-18 years of age and 8500 Volunteers in over 1700 Cadet Centres Spread accross the UK.
The ACF has a recriprocal relationship with the Regular and Territorial Army.
The Cadet Organisation has preserved its military heritage and is proud to operate the same rank system as the British Army.
Some Cadets do follow a career in the Armed Forces but the ACF is not used as a Recruiting Opportunity.
Within the Royal Navy there are Three different Cadet Organisations which are available to young people.They are The Sea Cadets ,Combined Cadet Force (Royal Navy)and the Sea Scouts.
THE SEA CADETS is a nationwide voluntary youth organisation open to young people aged 12 to 18.The organisation is based on Waterborne Activites.
There are currently 101 RN SEA SCOUT Groups within the UK.The objective is to develop a close relationship between the Royal Navy and Young People in the Scout Association by making Naval facilities and equipment available.
The COMBINED CADET FORCE or CCF is a tri-service military cadet organisation based in Schools and Colleges throughout the UK.
It is part of the National Youth Movement although it is funded and administered by the Royal Navy.
There are 240 CCF contingents and 40,000 Cadets.
The role of the CCF is to help boys and girls aged 13-18 years to help develop themselves and get a taste of life in the Services.As well as Military Training Cadets do non Military Training like Rock Climbing,Kayaking and many other outdoor and indoor activities.
The Cadet works toward their APC syllabus which involves military knowledge,use of maps and compass and shooting to name but a few.
There is no liability to join the armed forces although the CCF was intended as a recruiting wing.
The AIR CADET organisation or ACO is an UK wide cadet force with more than 40,000 members aged between 13 and 20 years.
The ACO is funded and supported by the Royal Air Force and is made up of 2 areas.
The AIR TRAINING CORE - which is divided into 6 regions,36 wings and more than 900 squadrons around the UK.
The COMBINED CADET FORCE (RAF) or the CCF is a section that is made up from cadets from all three services which come together in approx 200 schools across the UK.
The CCF is not a recruitment organisation but many Cadets to go onto services within the RAF.
