As we are based in the city of Portsmouth we thought it may help our and the cities visitors to list some of Portsmouths attractions and range of events that you may wish to experience throught the year.
Portsmouth has an exciting and varied range of attractions from the Historic Dockyard,Spinnaker Tower,Gunwharf Quays and D-Day Museum.As well as a host of museums Portsmouth has over 20 cosmopolitan bars, designer outlet shopping, nightclubs, a multiplex cinema and bowling. There is also lots to do for the Kids indoors and out all year round.
Also if you are a Football Lover you may wish to pop down to Fratton Park to watch Portsmouth FC.

Farnborough International Airshow 19-25 July 2010 .The Farnborough International Airshow (FIA) is one of the world's most iconic global aviation events. FIA holds a prominent position within the aerospace calendar taking place on a biennial basis (once every two years) over one week in July. The first five days of the show are traditionally trade days only, followed by a weekend where the exhibition is opened up to the public. The most recent airshow, FIA 2008, was a record-breaking year for business with US$88.7 billion worth of orders announced during the show. 2008’s event also featured 165 aircraft in static displays and spectacular flying displays and the public weekend attracted a staggering 153,000

Navy Days 2010 - 30/07/2010 - 01/08/2010.One of the most popular events on the south coast .The Royal Navy’s two newest warships are set to be dazzling double act as the newest naval technology features alongside the historic prowess of the naval fleet of the past, including HMS Victory and HMS Warrior 1860, at this summer’s Navy Days event at Portsmouth Naval Base and Historic Dockyard.
The new formidable Type 45 destroyers HMS Daring and HMS Dauntless are among the most powerful warships in the world and for the first time together they will open their hatches to the public for the three-day event, which runs Friday 30th July – Sunday 1st August.
Navy Days 2010 promises to be one of the most popular events on the South Coast this summer, featuring serving warships of the Royal Navy, ships of foreign navies, thrilling naval displays, historical re-enactments and the world-class attractions of Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.
Other ships on display will be two Type 23 Frigates, one of the mainstay ships of the modern surface fleet. The public will also get a rare chance to see specialist Royal Fleet Auxiliary ship Argus – an aviation training and casualty receiving ship. Her hospital facility includes four operating theatre tables, ten intensive care beds, 20 high-dependency beds and 70 general ward beds. Argus is one of few ships in the world to have a CT scanner and is similar to RFA Largs Bay which is currently helping the aid effort in Haiti.
This spectacular event ensures that there is always something going on around every corner from awe-amazing military displays of the Royal Navy Black Cats helicopter team and the Royal Marines Display Team, to displays of strength, courage and teamwork from the Field Gun Crews of HMS Sultan and HMS Collingwood, army parachute teams, motorcycle displays and of course the military band.
Over 800 years of naval history will be brought to life at every turn with historical re-enactment displays, a cast of hundreds of costumed characters and the welcoming doors of the National Museum of the Royal Navy, Mary Rose Museum and HMS Warrior 1860 will open wide to guarantee a fantastic, fun-filled day out for all the family!

Southsea Food Festival there will be an International Market in Palmerston Road precinct on Thursday 17th and Friday 18th June.
The full food festival then takes over for the weekend (19th & 20th June), with something for all the family. From kitchen theatre demonstrations in the big top marquee, the live music stage, children’s petting farm, and the quiet zone picnic area in the Dovercourt garden at the High School for Girls, you can sample, savour and delight treats from all our local food and drink stalls over this 2 day extravaganza.
19 June - JP Morgan Fleming Round the Island Yacht Race 2010
The annual J.P. Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race, organised by the Island Sailing Club, is one of the most popular fixtures on the Solent racing calendar. Competitors come from Europe and the USA, as well as all over the UK, to follow the 50 mile course round the Isle of Wight.
Starting on the famous Royal Yacht Squadron line in Cowes, the fleet races westabout, to The Needles, round St Catherine's Point and Bembridge Ledge buoy back into the Solent. Spectators can find many vantage points, both on the mainland and Isle of Wight, to watch the race progress.
Over 60 prizes are awarded for the event and every boat completing the race receives a memento of the occasion.

26 June - National Armed Forces Day
North Walk and Appley Park, Ryde - Over 150 veterans gather together to take part in a traditional military Drumhead Service & march past as part of the Island's Veterans Day celebrations since it’s introduction as a national event in 2006.

Gunwharf Quays Food and Real Ale Festival 02/07/2010 - 04/07/2010
Raymond Blanc will be opening the 6th annual Food and Real Ale Festival at Gunwharf Quays on July 2nd. Raymond Blanc will be opening the Festival in the Food Theatre, which will also feature guest chefs from Gunwharf Quays and the region in a purpose built kitchen.
A 40 cask real ale marquee returns to Gunwharf Quays and this year, for the first time, there will be a Wimbledon inspired Champagne and Strawberries marquee and as per last year, lots of local food stalls, an Italian Market and a new family area. The finals of Education and Business Partnership School's Challenge will be held on the Friday and lots of exclusive offers within Gunwharf Quays Restaurants and Bars!

Cowes Week is a fusion of many exciting elements, with its great mix of competitive sailing and social activities. The 8,500 competitors range from Olympic and world class professionals to weekend sailors. In excess of 100,000 spectators come to watch the sailing, enjoy the parties and live entertainment, and to experience the unique atmosphere. It is genuinely a one-of-a-kind event – come and see for yourself!

The Campsite will open on Thursday 10th June at 12 noon and stay open until 12 noon on Monday 14th June. Strawberry Fields will be open for campers only on Thursday 10th June from 6pm - midnight.

Old Gaffers Festival 4-6 June 2010 taking place In Yarmouth,Isle of Wight
The Old Gaffers have travelled from around Britain
Yarmouth's picturesque harbour filled with more than 100 visiting traditional sailing, steam and motor vessels, including the cream of the Old Gaffers fleet.
The Old Gaffers, so called because of the traditional 'gaff' rig, travel from all over the country to participate in the annual festival.
The Old Gaffers race takes place on Saturday, with the Royal Solent Yacht Club hosting the Queen's Jubilee Race on Sunday morning.
There is a huge range of free entertainment, craft stalls and live music. Friday night features Rob da Bank along with and Cuban Brothers and The Correspondents while on Saturday night Abba Fever and The Silver Beatles take to the stage.
