This Large Celestial Telescope was made by T.Cooke and Sons of London and York
The Brass Body of the Telescope is Wrapped in Brown Leather with a Large Brass Lens and Eye Cups
The Telescope Sits on a Wooden Tri-Pod
This Telescope is in Excellent Condition Throughout and the Picture is Perfect and the Lenses are Clear and Clean with no Visible Scratches.
The Length of the Telescope is 126cm (Fully Extended) and the Height on the Trip-Pod is 162cm

In 1837 Thomas Cooke Established his First Optical Business in a Small Shop at 50 Stonegate York, Moving on Later to a Larger Premises in Coney Street. He Built his First Telescope for William Gray.Cooke Built his Reputation on Making Refracting Telescopes and he Also Manufactured Turret Clocks for Church Towers.
He Founded the Firm T. Cooke & Sons and in 1855 Moved to Bigger Premises at the Buckingham Works at Bishophill in York.
One of his Finest Achievements was the Construction of the 25 inch 'Newall' Refractor for Robert Stirling Newall which for Some Years was the Largest Refracting Telescope in the World.He also Made a Telescope for the Royal Observatory and for Prince Albert.
The T.Cooke and Sons Amalgamated with Troughton & Simms (London) to Become Cooke, Troughton & Simms in 1922 which Later Became Part of Vickers,But Still Run by his Sons Thomas & Frederick who Succeeded him.
Some of his Telescopes are Still in Use Today , The National Observatory of New Zealand,The Observatory in the Museum Gardens York,A 5" Refractor Dating from 1880 is Still in Regular use at Clanfield Observatory Hampshire and a 25" Newall Telescope in Penteli Mount in Greece (National Observatory of Athens to Name a few.
